Attending the Volta ao Porto for the first time, Tom Bella had the ability to take 3rd place in race. Not really making much out of himself, the Aussie had the ability to stay in top 10 during the most important stages. At no time did he get ‘super legs’ but neither did he have an ‘off day’. Without TF a 3rd place finish is great and ensures a Wild card to next seasons Volta, where he will be in TF (break has commenced - Bella currently works a Grillbar flippping brugers), since the team has decided only to attend in Norway if we are awake when signup starts. If so, Gerasim Filatov is likely to lead the team in Trondheim.
In other news, VCB continues to train their new promising Dutch tour talent, Charlie Dijksma. Stacking up cash since the sale of the non-maxed 48 AV Heriberto Radondo to trackstah, funds are becoming low. Next up on the regime is FR, so the Dutch youngster will be biking around the streets of Rio. Hopefully he does not get of his bike at Ipanema Beach and maxes out.
While Bella takes a break, Team Management has decided to use multiple captains as Elizondo, Sahr, Ubeysobakin and Filatov will all have their chance, starting with Ubeysobakin at Santana da Serra – Odeceixe. Next up is Øyer Climbs, where either Elizondo or Sahr is likely to lead.
See you next year in Porto.
